Brazil v Chile: End of the road for plucky Chileans

Published:

Ladbrokes World Cup ambassador Rachel Riley tipped them for success before the World Cup was underway and for a while Chile looked like living up to the Countdown star’s top billing.

However, despite giving them a tough game the South Americans were undone 2-0 by Holland and must now face old foes Brazil in the second round.

The hosts are the clear favourites – on at 8/13 for the win, while the draw is available at 3/1 and the upset and longer odds of 9/2.

With over 100 markets available on the game, however, there are plenty of better value bets to be had and here James Curtis picks the top three.

Over 2.5 goals to be scored @ 3/4

This may not be the biggest price but a glut of goals looks nailed on for this game so punters can lump on with confidence.

Brazil have hit seven goals at the World Cup so far and netted in 11 of their last 12 games, while Chile have scored five and registered in 16 of their last 18.

It’s the clashes between the two that convince though, with all of the last nine meetings producing at least three goals.

Brazil (-2) to beat Chile @ 18/5

While Chile started the World Cup in top form and were unlucky to come away as 2-0 losers against the Dutch, Brazil have had a mental stranglehold over their South American cousins since the infamous Italia 90 qualification meeting at the Maracana.

With this meeting taking place at the scene of the crime Brazil are sure to add to their nine wins from 10 games and by another impressive score line.

Brazil have scored  33 goals at an average of 3.3 per game in that time, with 3-0, 4-0, 5-0 and 6-1 wins to their name, with Chile managing just six in reply they could be on the receiving end of another gammering here.

Neymar to score first @ 10/3

A somewhat obvious choice but with Lionel Messi threatening to steal the World Cup poster boy’s thunder Neymar will be desperate to get his side going here.

The Barca man has netted four times already in Brazil and has struck the first goal of the game no less than six times for club and country this term.
