Van Barneveld price cut for 2015 World Darts Championship glory

Raymond van Barneveld has been cut from 25/1 to 16/1 with Ladbrokes to win the 2015 World Darts Championship after his historic Premier League Darts win.

The five-time champion of the world beat former nemesis Phil Taylor and world number one Michael van Gerwen on his way to a first Premier League crown.

It was the Dutchman’s first win over The Power in 21 attempts on the Premier League stage and it proved to be the perfect platform for an assault on the £150,000 prize.

Ladbrokes now have RVB chalked up at 16/1 to capture a first World Darts Championship in eight years and a first since the tournament was moved to Alexandra Palace.

The 47-year-old, who was given a wildcard by the PDC and Sky Sports to compete in the Premier League, has seen a resurgence in his form of late and looked near enough back to his best in last night’s final against MVG.

And if Van Barneveld, who showed plenty of character at the O2 Arena on Thursday night, can continue his current vein of form all the way to the end of the year showpiece in north London then he represents excellent value to pick up a sixth world crown.

But the likes of Van Gerwen and Taylor, who has been out of sorts so far this year, will be chomping at the bit to win at Ally Pally next Christmas.

Defending champ MVG is still 13/8 favourite with Ladbrokes while Taylor, aiming for a 17^th world title, is 9/4 with the bookmaker.

Premier League semi-finalist Gary Anderson, who has seen an upturn in his fortunes recently, is 20/1 for world glory with two-time champions Adrian Lewis on at 11/2.

Last year’s beaten finalist Peter Wright is 22/1 to go one step better than last year and lift the Sid Waddell Trophy.
