Price boost perfect for Liverpool’s recent source of away goals

Steven Gerrard’s slip may have marred his last Liverpool appearance against Chelsea, but he has certainly been wearing the right boots when playing away from Anfield of late.

Gerrard is only three goals shy of equalling his best ever Premier League return for a single season, despite the fact he has been utilised in a more defensive role by Brendan Rodgers.

It has been his recent away form that has bolstered his 13-goal tally, as the Liverpool skipper has netted six times across the club’s last seven road trips.

And therefore Ladbrokes may be taking a hefty risk by enhancing Gerrard’s odds from 6/1 to 7/1 to open the scoring in Liverpool’s trip to Crystal Palace.

Meanwhile, given that Gerrard is Liverpool’s penalty taker, it could be significant that only Stoke and West Brom have conceded more spot kicks than Crystal Palace in the top-flight this season.

What’s more, all six that Palace have conceded have been scored.

However, it is Luis Suarez that Palace should correctly fear more, as the Premier League’s leading marksman this season has already netted 13 times on the road.

Furthermore, in his 17 appearances against opposition currently located in the bottom half of the top flight, Suarez has helped himself to 21 goals.

The only small crumb of comfort for Palace is that Suarez has only scored in two of his last eight outings against such opposition.

In that case, it could be argued that he is due a goal and Suarez can be backed at 11/4 to score first and 8/13 to strike at any time in the 90 minutes.

With regular strike partner Daniel Sturridge in line to return to the starting set-up after a hamstring injury, it is 9/4 that SAS are both on target in the same game for the eighth time in the Premier League this season.
