Liverpool lose as Lallana leads list of Spurs-bound Saints

Liverpool are set to miss out on capturing England World Cup star Adam Lallana following Tottenham’s appointment of Mauricio Pochettino.

The former Saints gaffer has been unveiled as Tim Sherwood’s replacement at White Hart Lane and is odds-on at 8/11 to raid his former club for at least one player this summer.

Saints captain Lallana had reportedly been close to tying up a deal with the Anfield club but the opportunity to continue working under the Argentine and remain closer to his family has seen Spurs steal a march on their rivals.

However, while Lallana leads the list at 11/4 he is not the only man expected to make the trip from the south coast to the capital over the coming weeks.

Ladbrokes believes the new Spurs boss could look to insert the heart of his Saints team into the Spurs squad, while ridding the Lilywhites of some dead wood, and make it a 7/4 shot that over 2.5 Saints players join Tottenham this summer.

Luke Shaw is also on Pochettino’s agenda after Manchester United extended the contract of Patrice Evra.

The Red Devils were at the front of the queue to sign the highly-rated left back but Shaw is unlikely to agree to a move that will see him perform a back-up role. However, Chelsea are also keen on his signature and this makes him a 20/1 shot to join Pochettino in north London.

Meanwhile, defensive team-mate Nathanial Clyne, who started his career at Crystal Palace, is on the wish list and viewed as a more likely candidate at 7/2 to make a Spurs switch.

Further up the field Morgan Schneiderlin (4/1) has been attracting glances from some top clubs and Pochettino is likely to test the waters if he can free up some space in his midfield while Jay  Rodriguez (4/1) and Rickie Lambert (6/1) could be the ideal men to inspire a misfiring Spurs front line.
