Juventus ahead of English duo in race to sign Sanchez

Published:

Arsenal and Liverpool appear set to miss out on Barcelona star Alexis Sanchez following reports stating that the Chilean attacker has agreed personal terms with Juventus.

This will come as a blow to the Premier League duo who pinpointed the 25-year-old as the ideal enhancement ahead of the new season.

However, for Juventus, who are chasing a fourth successive scudetto next season, the potential signing will be a huge fillip as they attempt to win the Champions League for a third time and the first since lifting the crown 18 years ago.

Sanchez failed to sparkle in his first two terms at the Nou Camp but was one of the few shining lights this campaign with 19 goals and 10 assists in 27 league starts.

Sanchez has already proven himself in Serie A as well having made his name at Udinese when he notched 20 times in 95 appearances before being snapped up by the Spanish giants for £20m three years ago.

It may come as a surprise to some that Barcelona are willing to let Sanchez depart, however, according to La Gazzetta dello Sport, they have already started fielding offers for the same amount they paid in 2011.

One of the reasons it appears the Old Lady have stolen a march on their rivals is the fact Sanchez’s agent also represents Bianconeri star Arturo Vidal.

Coupled with his previous and positive experience in Italy this seems to explain why Sanchez looks set to move back to where he established himself but with no deal formally in place the English clubs are certain not to give up the chase.

Both will be confident of selling the ‘best league in the world’ to Sanchez and with each side able to boast successful seasons just gone this might be a move further away from completion than it seems.
