Jodi Bird forces Simon Cowell into Britain’s Got Talent re-think
Another week, another crazy round of Britain’s Got Talent auditions!
This week we had it all from a grumpy Simon Cowell, a hugely talented songwriter who showed he can sing as well, a raunchy pole dance and even a BGT comedian who was actually, well, funny!
Here at Ladbrokes News we take a look at five of the standout acts from week six of the ITV1 show and give you their odds to win the competition:
Who said fatherhood might mellow Simon Cowell? During week six of auditions for Britain’s Got Talent the head judge proved he is just as grumpy as ever by stopping Jodi Bird’s audition midway through her performance of Rain on my Parade because he was bored. But after intervention from David Walliams, Alesha Dixon and Amanda Holden the 16-year-old got the chance to finish her song and won the backing of the audience and, in the end, all FOUR judges. Despite his antics, it didn’t stop the 54-year-old from claiming his intervention helped the 12/1 shot perform better second time round! Nice try Simon!
The man that brought songs Best Song Ever, All Time Low and Glad You Came to the world showed he’s not just a very good song writer but he can also hold a tune himself! The judges were so impressed with Ed Drewett’s performance of his own son Blink, they think he will have a hit record with it one day! After a clean sweep of “Yeses” the 25-year-old from Essex is 33/1 to go all the way and win the show.
Emma Halsam, the sister of World Superbike star Liam, moved herself into the spotlight with a raunchy pole dance that captured the attention of the judges and the viewing public. The 27-year-old, who weighs 15st, wowed the audience with a series of acrobatic moves which moved Amanda to say: “For you to get up there and have such good body confidence is a massive example for girls all over this country.” Alesha agreed stating: “I don’t care what size you are, you are brilliant at what you do!”
It’s not often a comedian gets a good laugh on BGT such has been the standard of budding funnymen in the past, but Ricky K’s musical comedy put smiles on all the faces of the judges. While he may not be one of the favourites to win the competition with Ladbrokes but the electric pink suit wearing comedian deserves his spot in this week’s round-up after his Fairytale of Love performance.
Come on everybody, let’s all do The Prawn? Joe Poulton’s extraordinary prawn dance is the craze that’s sweeping the nation and luckily enough for him, Simon was nowhere to be seen in his audition. The head judge was off at the birth of his son which left David, Alesha and Amanda to put this crazy dance routine into the next round!
