Groves targets world domination ahead of Froch clash
Published:George Groves faces the biggest night of his short boxing career when he walks out in front of 80,000 people at Wembley Stadium to face Carl Froch but just 10 days before the biggest fight in British boxing history he is already targeting world domination.
The Hammersmith-born fighter has signed a long-term promotional deal with German promoters the Sauerland Brothers, who he believes can get him the big fights across Europe and America he craves in the future.
And the Londoner is not concerned about the possibilities of another defeat to Froch, predicting he will knock The Cobra out in the third round of their upcoming re-match on May 31st.
The 25-year-old is 33/1 with Ladbrokes to back up his prediction of third round knockout victory, while the Londoner is 5/4 just to win at the National Stadium.
Groves believes having the Sauerland Brothers on his side will only benefit him when he steps inside the ring against the WBA and IBF super-middleweight champion.
“I went into the first fight [when Froch stopped him in the ninth round] on my own, all on my own, and I felt I paid a price for that, to a certain extent,” the challenger said.
“I’m in a much stronger position and I have a much stronger promotional team behind me.”
Froch, who believes he over-looked his British foe last time out, was awarded a controversial ninth round stoppage victory when the pair first met back in November last year and the Nottingham fighter is the 4/6 favourite for victory.
But that is not how Groves sees it and dangerously the super-confident Chelsea fan is already looking at what could be next on the horizon with a target of world domination.
“I don’t need to have my career built now. I’m an established fighter, not a fighter who needs steady progression,” said Groves
“I’m going to be world champion next week and then all I needs is someone to negotiate fights, which I’m going to be part of anyway – and still be on Sky – and take over the world.”
