Bayern flyer a fine bet to top Dutch World Cup scoring charts

Holland may have landed in a bit of a hornet’s nest as far as Group B goes, but rather than taking a leap of faith on the Oranje winning the World Cup, there’s plenty of other bets to exploit.

World Cup groups don’t come much more hazard-laden than Group B, where Holland will have to battle the reigning champions Spain and much-fancied Chile just to emerge out the other side, which owes much to their 25/1 price on overall glory.

Nevertheless, incoming Manchester United manager Louis van Gaal has plenty of attacking flair to call upon and not least a man he’ll be working with closely at Old Trafford next season as his spearhead.

Robin van Persie is a player well known for his prolific abilities and the United man didn’t disappoint his new club boss in qualification either.

RVP helped himself to a handsome return of 11 goals en-route to Brazil – the most of any striker in the European section of qualification – as Holland ran away with Group D.

It’s therefore a shock unlikely to register on the Richter scale that Van Persie is deemed the firm 11/8 favourite to score the most Dutch goals at the upcoming finals.

However, at odds of 9/2, there is another man with less hair for the Dutch who could trump the Man Utd striker and that’s Arjen Robben.

The Bayern Munich winger screams value to fire the most tournament goals for the Oranje, especially when punters consider that the 30-year-old has scored four times in his last five appearances for his country.

As well as scoring 15 goals for the Bavarians this season, the subject of United speculation also scored the same amount of goals as RVP at the last two editions of the World Cup.
