Aston Villa upset among the best bets for their Man City clash

| 07.05.2014

Manchester City’s two-game audition to be Premier League champions begins at home to Aston Villa with every Liverpool fan in the world crossing their fingers for an upset and keeping them there for 90 minutes.

It’s likely that most Reds fans will lump on a Villa win in an attempt to make any Citizen slip-up even sweeter, but is that one of the three best bets of the match?

Aston Villa Double Chance – 21/5

A punt on the Villa win may not be the wisest move considering Paul Lambert’s side have lost seven of their last ten matches, but the fact remains that this has been a season of shocks.

Crystal Palace’s come-from-behind draw with Liverpool was just the latest episode in a campaign littered with bizarre goings on and the massive price available on the visitors tripping up their opponents by avoiding defeat just cannot be ignored.

Man City/Man City in Half-time/Full-time market – 1/4

Of course, if all things go to form then this is the most likely punt to land. City have been leading at both the toots of the half-time and full-time whistle in six of their last seven games at home to Villa.

Not only that, they’ve also achieved the same feat in all of their last three games in the Premier League.

Aston Villa to score under 0.5 goals – 5/6

17 is the magic number as far as Villa’s away games are concerned. In 17 games away from their midlands base, they’ve accrued 17 points from scoring 17 goals.

It’s the lack of net-rippling that’s the focus here though and the price on City keeping them from finding the net looks superb value considering that three of Villa’s last five opponents have all kept a clean sheet.
