3 possible clubs to rescue Man United flop Fellaini’s career

New Manchester United manager Louis van Gaal is poised to draw a line under the David Moyes era once and for all by ushering Marouane Fellaini out of Old Trafford at a loss.

Van Gaal, like Moyes before him, is already struggling to attract top level talent – with Toni Kroos and Thomas Muller reportedly spurning his advances – but this has not curbed his desire to ditch the Belgian flop.

United paid over £26m for the former Everton enforcer but such is the descent of his stock that the club are willing to listen to offers of around half that fee.

Here, Ladbrokes News takes a look at three clubs that could help the frizzy-haired midfielder regain his form.

Celtic @ 8/1

With Georgios Samaras and Neil Lennon both bidding farewell to the Bhoys, Celtic fans are wondering what the new era of success will look like.

Club legend Henrik Larsson has distanced himself from the role – leaving Owen Coyle and former United boss Moyes leading the race at 5/2 and 4/1 to respectively.

The guarantee of a league title in one of Europe’s least competitive leagues and the promise of Champions League football and decent wages could persuade both United failures to rebuild their careers north of the border.

Club Brugge @ 5/1

Fellaini could be tempted to follow the Lukas Podolski route to career rebuilding by returning to more familiar surroundings.

Podolski left Cologne for Bayern Munich only to return when things didn’t work out. He rebuilt his confidence and is now very much a part of Arsenal’s front line.

This could inspire Fellaini to team up with his former Standard Liege manager Michel Preud’Homme who is now flying high in the dugout at Club Brugge.

Sporting Lisbon @ 5/1

Fellaini may not be the obvious answer to end Sporting’s 12-year wait for a league title but United’s desire to land their current star William Carvalho could get the wheels in motion.

The defensive midfielder has attracted plenty of admiring glances from Europe’s top clubs but United’s ability to offer a ready-made replacement could put them in pole position.

Fellaini is not at the top of any wish lists at present but the less rigorous Primeira Liga could be just the place to regain his Everton form in a deal that would surely suit all parties.
