Price Boost: Ronaldo enhanced to strike early blow against Bayern

Carlo Ancelotti’s Real Madrid head into their Champions League semi-final against Bayern Munich as underdogs to qualify but, in Cristiano Ronaldo, Los Blancos have a player capable of turning the tie.

And the Ballon D’Or winner’s inclusion is likely to prove pivotal to Real’s chances of establishing a crucial first-leg advantage at the Bernabeu with Ladbrokes boosting the price of Ronaldo to net the opener from 7/2 to 4/1.

Both Arsenal and Manchester United have already shown this season that there are chinks in the armour of Pep Guardiola’s team.

The latter side netted in both legs of their recent quarter-final against the Bundesliga champions.

And against the likes of Ronaldo, Bale, Modric and Benzema any space afforded to the hosts is likely to be ruthlessly exploited.

Our selection netted twice in Real’s 2-1 Champions League semi-final second leg victory over Bayern in 2012 before going on to miss his spot-kick in the resulting shoot-out.

The Portuguese will no doubt be eager to lay those demons to rest and having scored 54 goals in his last 44 matches for club and country there’s no disputing the threat he will pose to his opponents.

And given that Ronaldo has netted five hat-tricks in the aforementioned sequence the 14/1 on offer for another trio of strikes from CR7 is a tempting if somewhat outlandish option.

Meanwhile, the 5/6 for the 28-year-old simply to feature on the scoresheet would appear to be the value bet of the night.

Real are 11/8 to win the first leg with the visitors priced at 15/8 and the draw available at 5/2 with Ladbrokes.

In a game that should provide a stark contrast to the pitched battle between Atletico Madrid and Chelsea, going for goals would appear to be another path to profit.

Each of the pair’s last four meetings have produced three or more goals with the 8/13 on that number going over the 2.5 line again too good to pass up.
