Liverpool look to hijack Juventus bid for Barcelona forward

Liverpool could announce their return to the top table of European football with a move for Barcelona’s South American star Alexis Sanchez.

The Reds, who are just four wins away from claiming a first league title in 24 years at 8/11 with Ladbrokes, are rumoured to be considering a number of big summer transfers as they also prepare to make their Champions League comeback following a four-year absence from the competition.

And one potential option for Brendan Rodgers and co is the Chilean, who is believed to be weighing up a move away from the Nou Camp.

Juventus have reportedly already made contact with the 25-year-old’s agent, with the winger believed to be keen on a return to Italy, having previously made his name in Europe at Serie A club Udinese.

However, should Liverpool opt to splash the cash, then the forward could find the lure of playing in the Premier League too strong to resist.

Sanchez would also be a good fit for the Reds’ current attacking system, providing some much needed support for the likes of Luis Suarez and Daniel Sturridge in what would be a key second season for Rodgers’ side.

But while the Merseysiders are already facing competition from Juve to land the forward, the list of potential suitors could increase further should the player put in a string of impressive performances at this summer’s World Cup.

Chile face a daunting set of group fixtures pitting them against the likes of Spain and the Netherlands.

However, with Sanchez seemingly marginalised at Barca in the wake of Neymar’s arrival, the striker could be fired up to impress at a tournament where the Brazilian is expected to star for the hosts.

Should he shine, then the Chilean may prove hot property in the post season.
