Frustrated Tottenham favourite hints at Premier League exit
Published:As the season draws to a close, it would appear some players are already agitating for a move with Tottenham goalkeeper Hugo Lloris this week hitting out at the performance of his team this term.
Spurs have already sacked manager Andre Villas-Boas following a series of heavy defeats to their top-four rivals and rumours continue to persist suggesting that replacement Tim Sherwood may also depart the club with another summer of upheaval in store at the club.
The Lilywhites are seven points off a Champions League qualification place with three games left to play and failure to reach the top table of European football could prompt some players to depart with Lloris likely to have no end of potential suitors.
Little surprise then that the French international has, this week, decided to hit out at his teammates.
“This season we had sometimes the feeling that we give up. We can’t allow this kind of behaviour. We conceded a lot of bad defeats,” he said.
Speaking about next season, the 27-year-old jokingly added “It will be difficult to do worse, especially against the top four or five teams.”
And though he was happy to speak about the improvements required for next term, his comments are likely to be unwelcome by those behind the scenes at Tottenham.
Spurs paid £12.3m for the Lyon keeper back in August 2012 and while he has been consistently impressive for the Londoners, a big offer from abroad could prove too good for Daniel Levy and co to turn down.
One club previously linked with a move for the Frenchman is Paris Saint Germain, with the reigning Ligue 1 champions keen on bringing the keeper back to his homeland.
With money proving little obstacle to PSG and Lloris likely to benefit from a bumper new pay deal and the chance to play Champions League football, this is one rumour that could run and run.
