Cazorla reveals Arsenal monitoring Real Madrid star

Arsenal are considering a summer move for Real Madrid goalkeeper Iker Casillas, according to his international colleague Santi Cazorla.

With the jury still out on whether Wojciech Szczesny is the man for the number one jersey at the Emirates Stadium and Lukas Fabianski set to leave the club, the Gunners are looking at bolstering their goalkeeping options this summer.

And the Gunners midfielder insists his Spanish international colleague is high on the north London club’s list of targets.

“I’ve told him [I would like him to join Arsenal], but so far he has just been curious about my experience in England,” Cazorla told Sport360.

“His situation is very complicated, but he has to make a decision.

“Lots of clubs want him, including Arsenal, but I think that it would be very difficult to leave Real Madrid because of what the club represents.

“He knows what he has [at Madrid] and what he could find at another club.”

The Spanish international stopper has been out of favour in La Liga for the Bernabeu outfit and has admitted in the past that if his situation doesn’t change he could be force to look for a move elsewhere.

And while the wheels have come off the Gunners Premier League campaign in recent weeks, they could look to bolster their squad with the World Cup winning goalkeeper.

Arsene Wenger’s side now they face a huge battle to even reach the top four this season after defeat to Everton last week but they are still the 1/2 favourites to seal Champions League qualification.

Their Premier League fate is now out of their hands but what is under their control is an FA Cup campaign which sees them face Wigan in the semi-finals this weekend.

Arsenal are the 4/9 favourites to lift the cup and end their trophy drought and they are the same price with Ladbrokes to beat last four opponents Wigan at Wembley.
