Broner v Molina: The Problem already eyeing future opponents

Adrian Broner (27-1 22KO) is so confident of a return to winning ways against Carlos Molina (17-1-1 7KO) on May 4th that he has spent most of the build up to this fight eyeing up future opponents.
Broner – a three-time world champion – saw his unbeaten record taken by Marcos Maidana last time out and the 24-year-old will make his ring return on the undercard of the Argentine’s top-of-the-bill meeting with Floyd Mayweather.
The Problem waived his right to an immediate rematch with Maidana in order to help his mentor Mayweather set up the unification bout, but insists that a Broner v Maidana II is a certainty.
Broner is on a mission to become the youngest man to win titles at four different weights and also has his sights on Manny Pacquaio, recently saying he would fight the Filipino legend anywhere and at any weight.
The brash American admits that he was “big headed” before his first loss but insists the result has served as a wakeup call and claims he will return to action better than ever when making his super-lightweight debut at the MGM Grand in Las Vegas.
The betting indicates that the Ohio man is right to be confident, with a Broner win an extreme favourite at 1/50.
Molina has not been in action since his 2012 10th-round KO loss to Britain’s Amir Khan and with just seven knockouts to his name the 28-year-old does not have the power in his armoury to trouble a boxer of Broner’s quality.
The Mexican-American can be backed at 12/1 to cause a huge upset and with Broner focused on future match-ups there is a chance he could tap into these distractions.
However, with his first fight against a top level opponent ending in his first career defeat it is safe to assume that Molina is out of his depth against Broner and on course for a comprehensive defeat.
