Big Price Coupon: Bayern now 5/6 to win European showdown

Published:

It’s arguably the biggest match of the season so far and Ladbrokes are rolling out the red carpet by boosting Bayern Munich from 8/13 to 5/6 to beat Real Madrid when you include the Bavarians in a five-leg accumulator or more in the bookmakers’ Big Price Coupon. All we need to do now is find the other four selections which is where the Football League comes in. Below are previews of the two matches from the Championship and League 1 with the fivefold including Bayern Munich paying out a whopping £1025,76 to a £10 stake!

Birmingham v Wigan – Draw @ 12/5

Birmingham and Wigan clash in a hugely significant game for both sides with relegation and potential promotion respectively in the balance.

Both teams come into their penultimate game of the season in worrying form for their supporters with Birmingham on a run of four consecutive defeats compared to Wigan who have suffered losses in their last two.

A win for the home side would lift the Blues out of the relegation zone with one to play, however, another defeat would take survival out of their hands.

Wigan, on the other hand, would secure the last play-off place with three points but with only one win in their last five the good times for Uwe Rosler’s side have now finally come to a close.

As a result, the advice is to invest in the game finishing in a draw and an unsatisfactory conclusion for both.

The pressure of the occasion could make for an awful spectacle and a repeat of their Boxing Day goalless stalemate would not be a surprise.

Charlton to beat Watford @ 6/5

There is no doubt that relegation-threatened Charlton have more to play for than Watford who couldn’t be more mid-table.

It can be dangerous to assume that a team with no target are automatically vulnerable to a side with a clear one, however, the way the Hornets have finished their last two matches gives the impression they’re eager for the season to finish.

Charlton’s form doesn’t exactly encourage the theory but they won’t have a better opportunity to secure Championship football for next season than this.

Crawley to beat Carlisle @ 6/5

Carlisle are four points from safety and only a victory away to Crawley will be enough to give them a chance of playing the same team next year.

Fortunately for Graham Kavanagh’s side their opponents have no responsibilities beyond their obligation to their fans but with John Gregory overseeing two successive defeats he will be desperate to ensure his players give a good account.

And with Crawley collecting maximum points in their last two games at home and Carlisle failing to register a win in their last six on the road the challenge could become too much for the visitors to handle.

Carlisle have only scored three times in their last five away from Brunton Park and if an early goal is given away the towel could soon follow.

Oldham v Sheffield United – Draw  – 12/5

Neither team is threatened by relegation or incentivised by promotion but to both team’s credit that hasn’t stopped them from producing some excellent results of late.

Both teams have secured three wins from their last four games and while the Blades are nursing a six-game unbeaten run in the division their opponents haven’t been defeated in eight.

However, despite plenty of points being earned at the end of the campaign that hasn’t been as a result of a glut of goals with the sides only managing five goals between them in their last three.

As a result, the advice is to plump for both teams to maintain their sequences and the match to finish all-square.
