Berahino brawl paves way for Premier League move to Arsenal

Saido Berahino’s time at the Hawthorns could be drawing to a close, as rumours surrounding a post-match confrontation with a teammate and Arsenal’s ongoing interest in the striker continue to unsettle the youngster.

The 20-year-old was reportedly involved in a bust-up with James Morrison, after a mistake from the England youth international saw West Brom blow their chances of taking three points from their Premier League clash with Cardiff.

Going into the final seconds of the game, the Baggies were leading 3-2 having scored a late winner themselves. However, a poor pass from Berahino allowed the Bluebirds to break and score with effectively the last kick of the game.

That result left the Midlands club three points clear of relegation and 16/5 to go down with Ladbrokes, But with a tricky set of fixtures against the likes of Tottenham, Manchester City and Arsenal to come, it was definitely a case of two points lost rather than one point gained.

More concerning still for fans of West Brom, the late collapse led to unrest among the playing staff, with Morrison rumoured to be among those who took umbrage with Berahino’s error.

While the youngster has moved to fan the flames by explaining he will take no legal action over the matter, it could be the final act of what had started out as a bright season for both player and club.

Earlier on the in the campaign Berahino hit the headlines after scoring in a 3-2 win over Manchester United. It proved to be a false dawn, however, with West Brom subsequently enduring a miserable run that ultimately cost Steve Clarke his job.

Despite this, the 20-year-old remains hot property, with Arsenal leading the list of clubs keen to recruit the forward.

And that move could yet come to fruition, whether the Baggies go down or not, with the Gunners keen to bolster their attacking options and West Brom potentially open to a big money bid.

With Peter Odemwingie even lending his support to a Berahino transfer away from the Hawthorns, the forward’s career in the Midlands may be over before it even really began.
