Barca’s cavalier Brazilian full-back a target for PSG
Published:Paris Saint-Germain are targeting moves for Barcelona full-back Dani Alves and Roma midfielder Miralem Pjanic as they look to improve on their Champions League record next season.
The Ligue 1 champions have reached the quarter-finals of Europe’s premier club competition for the past two seasons but Les Parisiens are looking for significant improvements as they look to win a first European Cup.
The French club have all but secured back-to-back titles for the first time in their history but after elimination on away goals to Barcelona and Chelsea in consecutive seasons in Europe, PSG believe moves for Alves and Pjanic can take them to another level.
Brazilian international Alves, who was the target of racism from a fan during his side’s 3-2 win at Villarreal at the weekend, has just one year remaining on his current contract at the Nou Camp and PSG feel confident they can prise him away from Barcelona.
With the proposed 14-month transfer ban at Barca now lifted, Alves could be tempted with a move away from the Catalan giants after a season which could see them end the campaign without a trophy.
Roma star Pjanic also has just one year left to run on his deal at the Stadio Olimpico and Laurent Blanc’s side look set to take advantage with a summer bid.
The Parc des Princes club were interested in taking the 24-year-old to Paris during the January transfer window but were put off by the €35m asking price.
But now they are reportedly ready to make their move for the Bosnian international, who has scored six goals for second-placed Roma in Serie A this season, with Javier Pastore going in the opposite direction used as possible bait in any deal.
PSG are 1/4 for victory at home to Rennes as they look to wrap up the defence of their Ligue 1 crown but as they look to cement their status as one of Europe’s top clubs it promises to be a busy summer in the French capital.
