Armageddon approaching Arsenal, Barca and PSG bosses
Published:It’s been a tough few weeks for the managers of some of the world’s biggest football clubs, with Champions League losses compounded by dreary league or cup performances.
With the high expectations of their employers to match, the likes of Laurent Blanc, Tata Martino, Arsene Wenger and David Moyes may find their time at Paris St-Germain, Barcelona, Arsenal and Manchester United cut short respectively.
Blanc’s French club followed up their recent Champions League exit to Chelsea with a 1-0 defeat to Lyon in their next outing.
While the Parisians are still 10 points clear at the top of Ligue 1, a club with owners as greedy as PSG’s aren’t going to be too happy with just league titles to feed off.
With the World Cup signalling an end to many-a-manager’s reign at various national teams, Les Rogue-et-Bleu may well move to bring in a man like Louis Van Gaal, who could guide them to a much-coveted Champions League crown.
The same could be said for Barcelona, who slumped to defeat at Granada after losing to Atletico Madrid over two legs in Europe.
That La Liga loss leaves Martino’s men four points short of their Diego Simeone-managed rivals and the Argentine’s first campaign in charge of the Spanish giants could be his last should he fail to overhaul the deficit.
Things aren’t all that rosy in the Premier League either, with Arsene Wenger’s tenure at Arsenal hanging by the incredibly thin thread that is a potential FA Cup win, which the Gunners are 3/10 to claim.
If the Frenchman fails to overcome Hull in that final then his reign in north London will surely come to an end under a wave of fan frustration, while David Moyes is by no means save after a tumultuous first attempt at steering Manchester United’s ship.
