Back Sunderland for the drop before spiky fixtures nail them on

There’s never a good time to go on a losing run, but when you’re in the midst of a relegation scrap, 10 games before the end of the season is possibly the worst time to have one.

Despite not winning a match in any competition for five straight outings, Sunderland’s relegation odds are still quite healthy at 10/11 – a price that makes them fourth favourites for the drop.

It’s for that very reason that Ladbrokes customers should pile on to them to be relegated like a group of school kids giving their mate a birthday bundle, before an expected heavy defeat to Liverpool shrivels the odds.

Not only are Sunderland winless – their top-flight woe stretches to four games – they aren’t scoring either, having managed to find the net just once in that stretch of sadness.

With a treacherous run of fixtures to come over final part of the season, there really isn’t a better time to back Gus Poyet’s men for the drop.

The Stadium of Light strugglers must travel to Tottenham, Man City, Chelsea and Manchester United as well as their trip to Anfield and having registered just three away wins all campaign, things don’t look too rosy for the apple of Niall Quinn’s eye.

Poyet will no doubt target the remaining home games as his chance to work a miracle in the north East, with only Everton due to visit the Mackems from the current top half of the Premier League.

However, considering Sunderland’s 4-1 win at Fulham is the only victory the side has managed against teams from 11th place down, the fact that fellow relegation scrappers are due to visit their gaff isn’t necessarily a saving grace.

With Sunderland occupying the danger zone already, three points behind Crystal Palace, there really isn’t a better value bet to make in the relegation betting. Just make sure you snap it up fast, because it won’t be there for long.
