The Spurs players you’d most fear in a heated team meeting
Published:After suffering their fourth heavy defeat to a top-six rival of the season, Tottenham midfielder Sandro revealed the players were locked in a heated players-only crisis meeting for two hours after the Chelsea game.
With Spurs’ top-four chances crumbling like a cookie and out to 13/2 with Ladbrokes, Sandro said:
“We had a meeting with the players. Sometimes one player got a bit more stressed out and we tried to calm him down and talk in a nice way. We spent about two hours that way.”
If players were getting hot under the collar, then the Brazilian known as the Beast is definitely one Lilywhite you wouldn’t want to square up to. But which other White Hart Lane bickerers could hold their own in a dressing room scrap?
Hugo Lloris
The French keeper would be an absolute nightmare to deal with in a scuffle, constantly flying off his seat to pounce on his target like it was a through ball played in behind his Tottenham defenders.
Having refused to be substituted after taking a hefty whack to the dome from Romelu Lukaku earlier in the season too, you can imagine Lloris’ jaw being rock solid in any skirmishes too.
Aaron Lennon
Bruce Lee wasn’t the biggest ruffian in the world but that didn’t stop him laying out aggressors of all shapes and sizes thanks to his sheer speed.
Lennon is smaller the martial arts guru and the quickest man in the Spurs ranks. While Sandro may be beastly, you can imagine the nippy winger zipping round underneath his furious arm-swinging, landing shots and staying out of reach.
Brad Friedel
You know what they say about goalkeepers, they’re crazy and there’s certainly no reason to get up in the burly American’s grille, especially as he’s the tallest man in the dressing room.
Anyone who thinks the approaching-bus-pass-age Friedel would be an easy target at such an old age should be reminded that Chuck Norris is still landing blows in films at 74, and he’s nowhere near as agile as the former Aston Villa stopper.
