Southampton v Norwich: Points will be shared on the south coast

| 14.03.2014

A point is unlikely to satisfy either side’s differing ambitions but given their recent form Southampton and Norwich may have to settle for a share of the spoils at St. Mary’s.

Mauricio Pochettinio’s Saints are the odds-on favourites to triumph at 8/13 with Norwich 5/1 and the draw priced at 11/4.

And given the pair’s respective inconsistencies it may be wise to go with the latter option.

Southampton recently halted a three-game losing streak with victory away at Crystal Palace but it’s at home where they’ve struggled in recent times.

Only one win from their last eight as hosts in the Premier League has the south coast outfit firmly planted in mid-table with a challenge for a place in Europe unlikely.

Meanwhile, Canaries boss Chris Hughton knows his side are looking over their shoulder, just four points above the relegation zone.

A run of only one win victory in their last seven hasn’t helped ease the pressure on the beleaguered boss.

But three draws in that sequence, including a creditable point and performance at home to Manchester City, has provided some comfort.

Five draws in the pair’s last seven meetings in all competitions provides further ammunition for the argument that the spoils will be shared once again though, a result which may frustrate the clubs’ fans but please Ladbrokes customers.

Saints keep it tight at home

However, that’s just for starters. Nathan Redmond’s first and only Norwich goal so far settled the affair in the reverse fixture earlier in the season and the tricky winger is 4/1 to net at any time here.

Meanwhile, Saints striker Jay Rodriguez is probably more likely to feature on the scoresheet having netted 11 Premier League goals this term with the former Burnely hitman priced at 9/2 to grab the opener.

And should his side go in front then it could be a difficult afternoon for the visitors. Four of Southampton’s five home victories in the league this season have been secured without conceding adding further appeal to the 3/4 on offer for only one of these sides to score.
