Real Madrid to win but Barcelona to score is Clasico gold

El Clásico rarely requires much billing these days as when Spain’s footballing behemoths go head-to-head there’s normally a great deal on the line, but a win over Barcelona for Real Madrid in this latest edition may just seal them the La Liga title.

Real currently lead the way in Spain’s top division, three points ahead of city rivals Atletico Madrid after the same amount of games, but crucially, four points in front of champions Barca.

Successive away defeats for Gerardo Martino’s men have done the damage from a Catalan perspective and with Los Blancos in devastating form, the hosts are fully justified 5/4 favourites to inflict a third straight road loss on their great rivals, with a draw 13/5 and a Barca win 21/10.

Aside from a Madrid derby defeat in the league early in Carlo Ancelotti’s tenure, Real have won all 13 of their other league assignments at the Bernabeu this season and where Barca have faltered, Los Merengues have gone from strength to strength.

Since a 2-1 reversal at the Camp Nou back in October, Cristiano Ronaldo and co have embarked on a truly imperious unbeaten run of 31 games across all competitions; winning 19 of their last 21 games and nine of their last 10 ahead of this clash.

Meanwhile, Blaugrana’s defensive frailties on their travels have been exploited firstly by Real Sociedad and then by relegation-threatened Real Valladolid.

If Valladolid can find a way past Barca’s creaky backline, then a front three of Ronaldo, Gareth Bale and Karim Benzema – who have plundered a half century of league goals between them – should have no problems.

However, the best bet for this televised super clash looks to be the 13/5 about Real pulling off a victory in a game where both teams find the net.

Rampant Real look to have the measure of their rivals this time, but both teams have found the net in the last 14 meetings between the sides in competitive meetings.
