Man Utd striker shake-up in store as Moyes eyes Uruguay star

The list of clubs linked with the Dutchman – who now averages a goal every two games for his country and has scored 133 times in the Premier League – has swelled considerably of late, with Chelsea, Juventus and Monaco joining old side Arsenal as mooted destinations.
Van Persie fuelled speculation of a rift between himself and Red Devils boss David Moyes after the 2-0 Champions League last-16 first-leg loss at Olympiacos, when the 30-year-old told Dutch TV that other players were occupying the spaces he should have been operating In.
Although Van Persie later apologised to his teammates, a move away from Old Trafford this summer seems more and more plausible, especially as Moyes is thought to be lining up a club-record bid for PSG’s Uruguay international Edinson Cavani.
The 27-year-old signed for Les Parisiens for £55m last summer and has struck 14 goals in 17 Ligue 1 starts, despite playing second-fiddle to first-choice forward Zlatan Ibrahimovic at the Parc des Princes.
Cavani is thought to be fed up of constantly being shunted out to the left-forward position to accommodate his better-known colleague, and rumours that the former Napoli man would be amenable to a move away after the World Cup have pricked the ears of the Premier League’s elite.
Chelsea have been mentioned as potential suitors, although Jose Mourinho’s recent off-the-record comments regarding Monaco’s Colombian hitman Falcao, together with the possibility of a Blues move for RVP, suggests the Portuguese may throw Moyes another Juan Mata-esque bone by sitting out the race for Cavani.
England fans will be well acquainted with the six footer – who scored a whopping 112 Serie A goals in 213 appearances for Palermo and Napoli – during the summer, as he looks set to feature prominently for a Uruguay outfit that’s priced up at 9/5 to top the Three Lions’ Group D.
