Man United boss in town to cast eye over Arsenal target Griezmann

There was no hanging around in the international break for David Moyes, who balanced his time between penning a heartfelt letter to fans with a trip to Paris to take a look at one of La Liga’s most promising talents.

Antoine Griezmann, scorer of 15 league goals for Real Sociedad this season, was making his debut for France against the Netherlands and Moyes was in the stands to cast his peepers over the 22-year-old first hand.

Having faced the rising star over two group games in the Champions League, Moyes clearly saw enough of Griezmann’s talents to warrant further examination as he looks to reconstruct a fresh side at Old Trafford next season.

On the evidence of his maiden campaign as United boss, he’s in desperate need of hungry, gifted young players like Griezmann to facilitate a rapid return to the higher echelons of the Premier League.

Currently seventh and in a uphill struggle to secure any form of European football next season, Moyes’ side travel to a West Brom team next, that left an unwelcome mark at Old Trafford earlier this term when winning 2-1, though the Red Devils are still deemed the 8/11 favourites to prevail.

It’s no secret that Moyes will face stiff competition from Arsenal to sign Griezmann though, as the Sociedad man has regularly been linked with a move to the Emirates.

His fellow Frenchman Arsene Wenger is known to be a huge admirer.

If it comes down to a straight duel between the two clubs vying for his signature, then the Gunners’ expected inclusion in next season’s Champions League may end up being the deciding factor.

However, after persuading the likes of Juan Mata to spearhead his Old Trafford revolution, Griezmann may see it as the better long-term move.
