Improving Man United worth a shot in draw no bet against Man City
Manchester United’s recent upturn in form, and desperation to appease the Old Trafford crowd after their last home defeat to rivals Liverpool, makes the outgoing champions a dangerous animal in this local feud with Manchester City.
Although it’s only the blue half of Manchester chasing the Premier League title ahead of this derby clash, their Brazilian midfielder Fernandinho is right to be wary of a backlash after the Citizens strolled to a 4-1 win at the Etihad earlier in the season.
“The situation is different now, because we’re fighting for the title and they’re not. They’re just fighting for honour now,” said the former Shakhtar player.
Already 12 points better off despite playing two games less than United, there is no doubt the Citizens are worthy of their 11/10 favouritism, with the Red Devils 12/5 shots and the draw a 13/5 chance.
However, given the way United have gone about making up for that loss to Liverpool with a rousing win in Europe and a comprehensive victory over West Ham last time out, the hosts’ odds of 11/8 in the draw no bet market hold serious attraction.
Although David Moyes is still a long way from cracking the code at his new club, there were some extremely positive signs against the Hammers that confidence has returned to the ranks.
The performances of wonder-goal scoring Wayne Rooney and Juan Mata were of particular note, with the latter thriving in his preferred number 10 role behind the England striker, playing arguably his best game in a red shirt yet.
The release of Mata to play in the hole in Robin van Persie’s absence could well be the key to a much-needed win against a top side and simultaneously, prove a serious dent to their ‘noisy neighbours’ title hopes.
