Chelsea to keep Arsenal at bay in Stamford Bridge meeting

Published:

Jose Mourinho’s head-to-head record against opposite number Arsene Wenger may be impressive but its Arsenal’s lack of firepower that could be their undoing at Stamford Bridge this Saturday.

The Special One has won five and drawn five of the 10 previous meetings with the Frenchman and Chelsea are 9/10 to secure a crucial win at home, with the draw 5/2.

Arsenal are outsiders for victory at 10/3 with Ladbrokes and given the absence of Mezut Ozil, Aaron Ramsey, Jack Wilshere and Theo Walcott through injury, a depleted Gunners side could struggle to threaten.

Petr Cech has kept five consecutive clean sheets at Stamford Bridge and the Blues keeper can be backed at 29/20 to keep the north London side out.

The absence of Walcott is a blow to Arsenal’s hopes of picking up three points, with the 25-year-old proving a potent force in front of goal against the Blues, scoring in their last two wins against the club.

Instead the onus will fall on Olivier Giroud, with the Frenchman hoping the hit the kind of form that saw him score braces against both Everton in the FA Cup and Sunderland in the league.

Giroud is a 7/1 shot to score first at Stamford Bridge, with 9/4 available on the Frenchman finding the net at any time.

But the Blues will boast plenty of attacking threat, with Frank Lampard one to look out for, having found the net the last time the Gunners visited the Bridge, and currently 3/1 to score at anytime.

The man of the hour for Chelsea remains big game hunter Samuel Eto’o though with the Cameroonian no doubt keen to continue a run of scoring in the big games for Mourinho’s men.

Currently 5/1 to open the scoring, as he did against Galatasaray, and 6/4 to grab a goal at any time, the former Barcelona man can be backed at 33/1 to claim another hat-trick for the Londoners to go alongside the one he notched up against Manchester United.

Chelsea have scored three or more goals in three of their last four Premier League home wins, so any punters backing the Blues for victory should also look to Ladbrokes Total Result market with the hosts on at 7/4 to claim victory with over 2.5 goals scored in the match.

With plenty of other tempting tips on offer for this titanic clash between the Premier League leaders and Wenger’s team, it should be a game to remember.
