Buttler to finish top of the World Twenty20 runs chart for England

Published:

There has been plenty of discussion as to where power hitter Jos Buttler should bat in England’s line-up for the World Twenty20 in Bangladesh with some suggesting he should be in the top order.

But whether it’s high up or in the finisher role the Lancashire man has an excellent chance of finishing the tournament as England’s top runscorer.

Behind Eoin Morgan, Buttler is England’s best limited-overs batsman with his ability to clear the ropes and find the boundary in unconventional places.

It’s fair to say England have had a poor time of it of late and the batsmen have all had their struggles so with not much to pick from Buttler could provide a real value option for Ladbrokes customers.

Alex Hales (10/3) was recently knocked from top spot in the T20 batting rankings but if he can fire like when he hit England’s highest ever T20 score of 99 in the summer of 2012 then he can obviously stake a claim.

Eoin Morgan (4/1) is also hard to ignore but we are siding with England’s wicket-keeper at 8/1 with Ladbrokes to finish top of the run chart for England and he is our value pick.

Ravi Bopara can also lay claim to finishing with the most runs for his side but it could be his bowling which may be a surprise package in Bangladesh.

With pace off the ball a key weapon in sub-continent conditions, Bopara’s mixture of slower balls and cutters could be a vital part of Stuart Broad’s bowling attack.

The Essex all-rounder played a vital role with ball in hand in the recent three-match series against the West Indies taking five wickets in conditions similar to what will be on show at the World Twenty20.

Broad and James Tredwell both head the market to be England’s top wicket-taker at the tournament at 7/2 but Bopara, priced at 9/1 with Ladbrokes, could be the value pick.
