Unhappy-at-home Spurs will have to settle for shared spoils

Published:

Tottenham and Everton collide in this televised Sunday kick-off both desperate to swallow up some ground to fourth-placed Liverpool, but both look set to leave White Hart Lane frustrated.

Whereas Tottenham own the joint-best away record in the top-flight, their fans have witnessed lukewarm home form, with a few absolute horror shows against the top sides thrown into the mix.

And while visiting Everton may not possess the kind of potency of a Manchester City or Liverpool to leave Spurs red-faced in the same fashion, they certainly have enough quality to poach a point at 12/5.

At 11/10 for victory, Tottenham are simply too short to back against top-six opposition, as they’ve already lost to Newcastle and drawn with Man United, who both reside lower than the fifth-placed Toffees.

Meanwhile, better value Everton at 11/4, have made drawing away from home a real habit – sharing the spoils in six of their 12 top-flight road fixtures to date – a tally only matched by West Brom this season.

The sides played out a forgettable 0-0 draw at Goodison Park earlier in the season and arriving one point clear of their hosts Roberto Martinez would be the happier to leave with half the booty.

However, at least viewers tuning in should be able to witness some goals, unlike the reverse fixture.

Only one team have stopped Everton finding the net in their last eight games in all competitions, while for Tottenham it’s only once across their last 10 in which they haven’t scored.

Both teams to score is available to back at 7/10, but more exciting odds of 10/3 are offered about the game finishing either 1-1 or 2-2.
