The four men Arsenal could replace contract-rebel Sagna with

The list of men who have leapt from the Arsenal ship to find success elsewhere must pain Gunners fans greatly every time they cast their eyes over it. Now it seems another player is set to be added at the bottom, as Bacary Sagna keeps his free-agent options open.

The right-back’s Arsenal deal is up this coming summer and its impending expiry has attracted the attention of both Paris Saint-Germain and Monaco, who could both offer lucrative salaries and a longer deal than a renewal in north London.

So with Sagna set to leave Arsenal, who are 6/1 to win the Premier League, where should Arsene Wenger look to find a replacement for the 31-year-old?

Serge Aurier

Currently plying his defensive trade in Toulouse, Aurier fits the Arsenal mould perfectly.

Following in the footsteps of previous African full-backs Lauren and Emmanuel Eboue, Aurier is young (21), dynamic and playing in a league that Wenger has no problem plundering for talent.

Tipped to have a stupendous World Cup with the Ivory Coast, Arsenal would be wise to make moves sooner rather than later in order to bag a bargain.

Micah Richards

Clearly an expendable cog in the Manchester City wheel now, Richards should start to seek a move away from the Etihad in order to get his career back on track.

Arsenal wouldn’t be a completely alien move to make, considering he’s been linked to go there many a time before, and his experience, relative youth and versatility makes him an attractive proposition.

Luis Cavanda

Angolan-born but representing Belgium, Lazio’s Cavanda is another player to have been previously linked with a move to the Emirates.

Quick, and capable of playing on either flank, Cavanda would be a useful commodity for Arsenal. Buying him shouldn’t be a problem either as the player has fallen out with the club in the past, while Lazio have never been shy to sell their stock.

Mathieu Debuchy

Debuchy is the man to have ousted Sagna from the French national side, so who better to replace one of the most consistent performers in the division than the man who’s surpassed him at international level?
