Meet the Chelsea, Real and PSG men Beckham could lure to Miami

David Beckham claims he’s flooded with offers to play for his embryonic Miami football franchise already.

If it’s true, the 25/1 looks a huge price on his new venture to win the MLS in their first season of existence. In addition, the 10/1 on him coming out of retirement to don the jersey could be tempting if a few old friends are recruited.

With the team looking likely to be in full working order by 2016/17, just exactly who can Beckham attract to Miami for his new project? Here’s a selection of four:

Zlatan Ibrahimovic

There’s little chance the Swedish genius will have hung up his boots by the time Miami have created their franchise (even though he’ll be 35 by then) given that he’s still schooling defenders and scoring beautiful goals at the highest level now.

Winding down in the MLS seems like a natural career move for Zlatan, and helping out the man he enjoyed winning the Ligue 1 title at PSG with would be the perfect chance to do that.

Kaka

Beckham played with Kaka during his loan spell at AC Milan and, given the tough time the Brazilian has had with injuries of late, could tempt the former Real Madrid wizard to a more laid-back life on America’s east coast.

Miami’s south American outlook will surely appeal to Kaka too.

Frank Lampard

Already 35, Lampard would need Miami to be open for business sooner rather than later if he’s going to make the switch. But as he’s still playing an important part for both England and Chelsea, he shouldn’t be too stretched playing in the MLS in his late 30s.

Often linked to an American move, joining up with his former international skipper could be the clincher.

Iker Casillas

Afforded little playing time for the best part of two seasons at Real Madrid, it’s difficult to see Casillas cutting his long-standing allegiance with Los Blancos for another European powerhouse.

The lure of the MLS could be the perfect swansong in a glittering career, where he’d be guaranteed playing time under former Bernabeu teammate Beckham.
