KP short price with Ladbrokes to never play for England again
Published:England’s most naturally gifted willow-swinger of the last decade, Kevin Pietersen, has been sensationally dropped by his country ahead of their tour of the West Indies and the T20 World Cup.
According to Ladbrokes, KP is now highly unlikely to ever make a comeback for England; giving the South-African born batsman odds of 1/3 to remain marooned in the international wilderness, pricing an improbable comeback at 5/2.
It’s a bold decision from England’s cricketing brass as they look to rebuild their shattered set-up across all forms of the game, following a catastrophic tour of Australia which witnessed a 5-0 Ashes drubbing and only one 50-over win on the entire tour.
Still, the blame for the debacle Down Under cannot be landed solely at Pietersen’s door, and although he is a figure that causes exasperation and controversy at times, he’s still England’s leading international run-scorer of all time, posting over 8000 Test runs alone.
KP said: “I want to thank everyone for their fantastic support and I wish the team the very best of success going forward. I believe I have a great deal still to give as a cricketer. I will continue to play but deeply regret that it won’t be for England.”
The bookies also believe that his omission will represent a huge blow to England’s chances of winning either of the next World Cups with their T20 odds pushed out to 10/1 (from 8/1).
Alex Donohue of Ladbrokes said: “We firmly believe KP will never play for England again. England will be in a far worse position for both World Cups without him and their odds of winning either tournament have drifted accordingly.
