Familiar feel to Norwich’s Man City clash as thrashing awaits

If there is one thing that’s becoming a cast iron guarantee in Premier League football, it’s that Manchester City will, always, hammer Norwich.

Chris Hughton’s side one of the clubs bunched like London rush hour Tube passengers in the bottom half of the division and sit just two points above the dotted line in 15th place.

A win is hardly expected at Carrow Road when City come to town, as the 13/2 Ladbrokes are offering on that happening suggests, and it’s hardly surprising given their recent record.

City have won six of the last seven meetings between the pair, with Norwich managing to pick up a consolation win on the last day of last season when the Etihad men were manager-less and playing without cause.

In fact, Norwich are generally quite subservient when facing off against top-half sides. They’ve got the fourth-worst record against the top-10 this season, avoiding defeat just three times in 12 attempts and shipping the second-most goals.

And it’s goals that form the basis of our betting strategy for this game, with the 5/2 on Manuel Pellegrini’s men scoring more than 3.5 in the game a shockingly long price.

During this famously goal-happy campaign City have already slotted seven past Norwich, but it’s a habit that was formed some three terms ago, when the Norfolk-based club rejoined the top-flight.

Since then, City’s goal tallies against the Canaries reads 5, 6, 4, 2 and 7, making the fact that another tally of at least four is odds-against to occur a head-scratcher.

To their slim credit, in all but one of those five outings Norwich have also managed to find the net, so perhaps a flutter on the 4/6 on both teams scoring appeals as a side-dish to your Man City overs main course.
