“Wolfie” Adams is the pick of our wildest BDO multiple yet
Published:The second round of the BDO’s Darts World Championship draws to a close with one of the games most recognisable faces in action.
Martin “Wolfie” Adams, the three time World Champion and current world number 36, takes to the Lakeside stage to face Ross Montgomery and we’ve combined his outing with Jan Dekker’s clash with Geert de Vos for a correct-score double worth around 23/1, our most outlandish BDO multiple to date.
Unseeded for this latest rendition of the World Championship, Wolfie has already knocked out a hotly tipped tungsten tickler in the first round by beating third seed Tony O’Shea 3-0.
So the prospect of facing Scottish 14th seed Montgomery shouldn’t be too much of a hurdle, especially considering he’s reigned victorious in four of the pair’s six career meetings.
While Wolfie blitzed through without dropping a set, Montgomery made much harder work of his opening round. He averaged 80.19, some way short of Adams’ 87.27, in clawing over the finish line 3-2 against unseeded Irishman Michael Meaney.
After such an abject performance, Montgomery is taken to win just a solitary set with the throw, leaving Adams to clean up in another convincing win.
23-year-old Dekker has had a topsy-turvy World Championship career so far, reaching the semi-final in his 2011 debut appearance, then crashing out in the first round and reaching the quarter finals in the succeeding years.
Fourth seed for this year’s competition, Dekker faces Belgian De Vos after a breezy 3-0 win in his first round, where he averaged 83.61 every three darts.
Meetings with the 11th seed have been split with two wins apiece, but both of Dekker’s victories have come without reply.
Given De Vos’ superior average in his own first round match, though, a less embarrassing 4-2 defeat is forecast.
