Woeful away form set to send Hull tumbling into the Championship

The bottom of the Premier League table is much like a swirling vortex, sucking sides into the relegation mirth more efficiently than the latest Dyson hoover.

One side who are currently battling against that motion are Hull, who are travelling endlessly round a downward spiral in the league standings, with the end result likely to be a return to the Championship next season.

It’s their away form that has put them in this position and it is that same travel sickness that will turn their current situation into an unrecoverable one.

Steve Bruce’s side slumped to a 1-0 defeat to Crystal Palace at Selhurst Park during the recent midweek round of fixtures, leaving them just four points clear of danger and 10/3 shots to be relegated this season.

That the defeat came against a fellow relegation battler obviously stung but, given that the Tigers have lost all bar three of their trips away from the KC Stadium this season, their next four sojourns could really plunge nails deep into each corner of their coffin.

The next four trips the Tigers’ coach driver must plot are to Sunderland, Cardiff, West Ham and Stoke, four of the bottom five sides in the current table.

A lack of away goals – Hull have just seven to their name, the second least in the division – has resulted in an inability to get road results. It’s therefore easy to see all four of those games being unrewarding for the Humbersiders, which will leave their price to be relegated shrivelled like a dried prune.

Now is definitely time, then, to lump on the men in burnt orange to suffer the most unwanted top-flight fate this season, a move that’s certainly not barmy considering the club have lost four straight league games overall and all of them to nil.

They welcome Tottenham to their gaff next and are 21/10 to suffer a fifth consecutive defeat without scoring.
