Stevenage v Everton: Back Toffees’ class to show in second half

Published:

Everton have a tricky-looking FA Cup fourth-round tie at Stevenage, though the Toffees harbour more than enough quality in their ranks to wear League One’s bottom side down by the final whistle.

The fact that these sides required extra time when they met at Goodison Park in the Capital One Cup gives a little clue that Everton will have to work for their porridge at Broadway Hall.

However, that tie was played way back in August, before Roberto Martinez had really begun to shape his now polished-looking Champions-League chasing side and before The Boro had embarked on a tumultuous league campaign, which sees them rock-bottom of League One ahead of this one.

Understandably, Ladbrokes offer a skinny 3/10 that the Premier League outfit prevail, while a whopping 8/1 says Graham Westley’s struggling side can cause a huge shock – with a replay-forcing draw at 9/2.

Therefore, punters tuning in for this teatime televised showing should find some more value outside of the match-odds and namely in the half-time/full -time market, where a far more tempting 3/1 is proffered on draw/Everton.

The sides went in level at the break the last time they clashed as Stevenage took the game to their illustrious hosts, even scoring the opener through Luke Freeman, before Gerard Deulofeu restored order just before the break.

At home this time, and with the cameras watching on, we can expect the League One underdogs to come flying at Everton again from the off.

The fact that five of the Toffees last six away goals in all comps have arrived after the half-time oranges, suggests they’ll be more than happy to soak up Stevenage’s advances, before class and extra fitness shine through.

Everton to score between 75:00 – Full-Time is available to back at 21/20.
