Spurs to bounce back with derby win over Rockets

James Harden has been a thorn in the Spurs’ side since joining Houston but back-to-back lacklustre performances will see San Antonio confident of a return to winning ways.

As stated above, the Rockets’ (29-17) James Harden has been instrumental in Houston’s recent successes over their Texas rivals San Antonio (33-11).
Harden has averaged 30 points in five meetings with the Spurs and scored 59 across the Rockets last two wins over their neighbours.
However, the former Oklahoma City shooting guard has suffered a sudden dip in form, seeing his 24.6 season average plummet to just 13 over his last two games.
This will boost the confidence of Gregg Popovich’s charges as they look to avoid successive losses for the first time this season.
San Antonio are 11-4 from their last 15 and 6-1 from seven on the road, so expect the visitors to win against a Rockets side that has lost three of its last nine games.
With the league’s leading team facing the struggling Lakers a road win seems an easy pick here.
However, Indiana (34-9) have not had things all their own way of late, shipping an average of 114.7 points over their last three matches.
Injury hit LA (16-29) have performed well below expectations this year but Mike D’Antoni’s men have scored 100+ points for eight games in a row now and are outscoring the Pacers this term.
That said, over the season Frank Vogel’s side is giving up 16 points per game fewer than the Californians so expect a 15th win in 19 games for the away side.
The Lakers are 19-4 in 23 Staples Center meetings with Indiana but with the hosts currently 3-16 from 19 and 1-5 from six at home another loss looks likely here.
Golden State (27-18) are on a six-game winning streak against the Wizards (21-22) and Washington’s lack of squad depth means that run will be extended at the Oracle Arena.
The Warriors are 13-5 from their last 18 and while that is not the most inspiring form Mark Jackson’s men are 10-3 against Eastern Conference sides this term and outscoring the visitors by over five points per game.
The Wizards are 8-3 from their last 11 but an overreliance on their starting five will put a dent in that record in California.
With an average of just 24.8 points per game Randy Witman’s side possess one of the least effective benches in the NBA so expect the hosts to emerge victorious.
