Nets duo to make winning Boston return in TV triple header

| 24.01.2014

A week before the Super Bowl takes centre stage; basketball graces our screens with a triple-header of games on BT Sport.

San Antonio Spurs @ Miami Heat

The last time these two squared off, the intensity meter was at a Spinal Tap-like 11 in Game 7 of the NBA finals.

The Spurs are shorthanded, but have still managed to rattle off six straight wins on the road and eight of their last 10 overall.

After being almost inseparable in the post-season last term, another tight encounter is in store with the Heat 7-1 at home to Western Conference teams this season and the Spurs a perfect 6-0 on the road against the East.

Therefore take the 5/6 that the largest lead in the game will be under 15.5 points.

Los Angeles Lakers @ New York Knicks

A red-hot Carmelo Anthony is perhaps the last person the travel-heavy Lakers will want to see as they bid to end a three game losing streak, and their weak defensive unit isn’t likely to turn the Knicks star cold.

Anthony hit a league-high and record breaking 62 points in the Knicks’ last outing against the Charlotte Bobcats, hitting 23 of his 35 shots, including six from three-point range and all 10 free throws.

With the All Star clearly in rhythm and the Lakers allowing a league worst 113.2 points per game over the past 12 matches, take the Knicks to score over 106.5 at 5/6.

Brooklyn Nets @ Boston Celtics

Emotions are sure to be high when Paul Pierce and Kevin Garnett return to Boston for the first time since being traded to the Brooklyn Nets.

The duo, who helped win the franchise’s 17th Championship in 2008, were traded away by the Celtics on draft night as the club went into rebuilding mode.

After a tricky start at their new home, Garnett and Pierce have been instrumental in helping the Nets turn their record around and are 9-1 in the last 10 games.

The Celtics on the other hand, who kept just five players of last season’s roster, are just 3-16 in their last 19 games.

Take the former Celtics to make a winning return at 10/17.
