Ladbrokes go best price on all favourites at Gowran Park

Published:

Ladbrokes will be best price on all favourites today at Gowran Park with the Irish track hosting one of the most competitive cards of the year so far.

Ireland’s champion trainer Willie Mullins has fancies in the two feature races – the Galmoy Hurdle and the Thyestes Handicap Chase – with both Zaidpour and Vesper Bell going off in search of glory.

Abbyssial, Dogora and Black Hercules are other likely favourites for the Mullins stable on the seven-race card and Ladbrokes customers betting on mobile can make their selections safe in the knowledge that they’ll be getting the best value when backing the market leaders.*

Here’s our news team’s snapshot of the day’s action:

Ruby Walsh and Willie Mullins will be pretty confident in the opening contest at 1:15 and Ireland’s standout duo can get off to a flyer with Abbyssial.

The promising juvenile was a comfortable winner at Fairyhouse before Christmas, racing clear of the chasing pack to secure a seven-and-a-half length victory on only his second start.

Mullins’ second string Noble Inn is likely to be the main threat and having landed a runner-up place in a Grade Three affair last time out andshould be respected.

The next race is a far more open betting heat with current joint-favourites Fort Smith and Sizing Granite facing off against each other.

Fort Smith wasn’t at his best when well beaten at Leopardstown on his previous start but his debut showed what he’s capable of over timber.

Sizing Granite wasn’t far away from landing the spoils on his last appearance and will no doubt push for victory again with jockey Paul Carberry one to watch out for on board bumper winner Zigger Zagger.

Mala Beach reopposes course and distance victor Zaidpour in the Galmoy Hurdle at 2:15 but it’s looking unlikely that there will be any fairytale reversal of form following the latter’s convincing win over his rival in the Christmas Hurdle.

We’ve already highlighted Panther Claw in the Thyestes Handicap Chase (3:15) and at the current price of 14/1, Barry Geraghty’s mount is well worth backing following last year’s third in the renewal and two previous wins over fences on soft to heavy ground.

Meanwhile, in the lucky last Vicangelome enjoyed an easy ten-length victory last time out and could upset the Mullins favourite for trainer Robert Tyner.
