Falcao injury sees Monaco consider bid for Manchester United star

A season-ending injury to Colombian striker Radamel Falcao has seen Ligue 1 giants Monaco turn their attention to two Premier League forwards.

The principality club are said to be weighing up bids for Manchester United’s little-used Little Pea – Javier Hernandez – and wantaway Southampton striker Dani Osvaldo.

The need for forward reinforcement at Monaco comes after a torn ACL ruled in-form Falcao out for the remainder of the Ligue 1 campaign and with the Colombian netting 11 times in 19 games thus far Claudio Ranieri’s side are missing their biggest goal threat.

Osvaldo would be the easier of the two to obtain after the Italian was suspended by Saints boss Mauricio Pochettino for head butting team mate Jose Fonte.

However, with just three goals for the south coast club from 13 Premier League outings, Monaco could be tempted to test the waters at Old Trafford with a bid for Chicharito.

The Mexican is a fan favourite at Old Trafford and has remained resolutely professional when placed behind Robin van Persie and Wayne Rooney in the Red Devils pecking order.

But, after being overlooked for an out-of-position Adnan Januzaj in recent matches, the Central American star could be swayed by first team opportunities in France.

Chicharito has completed 90 minutes just once in the league under David Moyes and has played a total of 515 of the available 1,980 minutes from the champions’ 22 fixtures thus far.

The 25-year-old has performed well, scoring seven goals this term, and Ranieri will hope that with the World Cup fast approaching the lure of first team action will prove too tempting to turn down.

With the arrival of Juan Mata boosting Manchester United’s 12/5 chances of finishing in the top four and manager David Moyes seeking additional midfield talent Hernandez could be allowed to leave if the price is right.
