Can Wilson dent Manning’s legacy with Super Bowl win in New York?

Denver are the 4/5 favourites to win the Super Bowl after making light work of the New England Patriots with a 26-16 win in the AFC Championship Game.
However, while the Broncos will look to land a second Vince Lombardi trophy for quarterback Peyton Manning and cement his status as the NFL’s greatest of all time, Seattle will hope that sophomore QB Russell Wilson can upset the odds.
The Seahawks made their way to the MetLife Stadium courtesy of a comfortable 23-17 win over the San Francisco 49ers and many see the Super Bowl as a potential changing of the guard, with Manning handing the ‘best QB in the league’ torch to his younger counterpart.
The Hawks are billed as 21/20 underdogs to win the biggest showpiece in world sport and while meetings between these two are rare the recent history that can be viewed suggests Denver will have their work cut out.
The last two clashes, while only preseason fixtures, have seen Seattle emerge as comfortable victors, winning 40-10 in August last year and 30-10 almost exactly 12 months prior to that.
In the most recent of those victories, the Seahawks were up 33-7 by the end of the second quarter, something which could prompt many to take the 3/4 on offer on the first half being the highest scoring when the teams run out in New Jersey.
And, while a total of 50 points was yielded the last time these sides clashed, the past six meetings indicate a lower total than the 47.5 Total Points line on offer here with five of the last six going below that line, making the 10/11 on going under an enticing option.
The Seahawks may have won four of the last six games played between these franchises but with just two of those ties being regular season games, and those matches coming three and seven years ago, form really does go out the window for this encounter.
Manning is expected to have an edge with his career legacy at stake, but with a Super Bowl ring at the end of his second year up for grabs, expect Wilson to run the Bronco’s man extremely close.
