Benefits Street’s ‘White Dee’ poised for Celebrity Big Brother entry

Published:

The current series of Celebrity Big Brother has proven so popular that speculation is already mounting as to who will appear in the next run of the Channel 5 reality show.

And in news that will have Daily Mail readers up in arms, Dee Kelly aka ‘White Dee’, ‘star’ of hit Channel 4 documentary Benefits Street looks set to see her fame move up a level with a stint inside the house.

Benefits Street – as the name suggests – focuses on an area of Birmingham where 90 per cent of the residents claim benefits and as is often the case with Channel 4 shows one “cast member” has emerged as a fan favourite.

Dee looks set to follow in the footsteps of Paddy Doherty and Ladbrokes is offering odds of 3/1 that she appears in the next series of CBB.

It’s a 10/1 shot that she heads Down Under for a spell on I’m a Celebrity Get Me Out of Here and a 500/1 outside bet that she graces the BBC dance floor as a contestant on Strictly Come Dancing.

Jim Davidson is the current favourite to win this year’s edition of CBB, with Made in Chelsea’s Ollie Locke and Towie’s Sam Faiers making up the top three.

And while Channel 5 has come up trumps, with this series proving the most popular in recent history, Ladbrokes believes that Channel 4 has a gem of its own in Benefits Street.

According to the bookmaker a second series of the Brummie show is a formality at evens, while industry plaudits are also considered a safe bet with odds of just 6/4 saying Dee and co land any of the prizes available at the forthcoming National Television Awards.

Ladbrokes’ Jessica Bridge claimed Dee will not be short of offers, saying: “The odds suggest the days of benefits could soon be over for White Dee as she looks set to cash in on her new celebrity status.

“She looks right up Big Brother’s street and we’re confident we’ll see her in the diary room sooner rather than later.”

All Odds and Markets are correct as of the date of publishing.
