Arsenal want to bring Juventus striker to Emirates on loan

Reports from Italy suggest Arsenal representatives have opened talks with Juventus’ Montenegrin international striker Mirko Vucinic ,with a view to bring the player in on loan until the end of the season.

Vucinic had been an important member of Juve’s Serie A title-winning squad last season, chipping in with 12 goals in all competitions, but has since fallen out of favour in Turin.

Now it seems Arsenal are prepared to give the striker a new lease of life in north London which would suit both parties, as the Gunners look to bolster their options up front in order to keep their title challenge firing on all cylinders.

The Gunners had been strongly linked with Schalke playmaker Julian Draxler during the January window, though that potential deal looks like being shelved until the summer now.

Signing Vucinic would be particularly good news for current front man Olivier Giroud as the Frenchman has been asked to play an awful lot of minutes at the apex of Arsenal’s attack, through a lack of viable alternatives.

Aside from a few running repairs, so far Arsenal have been fortunate Giroud has stayed fit, contributing nine league goals to the cause and the target man is a great 5/2 shout to score first in their next match against Fulham.

That would make it three Premier League goals in as many starts for Giroud, whose workload is unlikely to lighten unless Arsene Wenger does bring in another striker, following injuries to Theo Walcott and Nicklas Bendtner.

Arsenal should still breeze past the struggling Cottagers to remain top after Fulham shipped four at home to Sunderland last time out – with 4+ home goals available to back at 11/5 at Ladbrokes.
