West Brom v Man City: Dzeko to provide City a fairytale finish

Published:

Everybody is aware of Manchester City’s troubles on the road, but if they are to reverse their fortunes and confirm their title metal midweek at the Hawthorns, then Manuel Pellegrini should let loose Baggies-destroyer Edin Dzeko at some point.

So easy and effective is the strike partnership struck-up between Sergio Aguero and Alvaro ‘the beast’ Negredo for City this season, that once again Dzeko has been the outsider at the table, left to feed on Premier League scraps and cup outings.

However, the big Bosnian has still performed admirably when called upon, notching seven times in 14 appearances in all competitions and has developed a handy knack of scoring the last goal too.

And considering Dzeko managed to score all three of City’s goals against West Brom last season to ensure maximum points on both occasions, he’s the pick of the last goalscorers at 5/1 and very attractively priced at 11/8 to find the net anytime.

If, as in City’s last two Premier League road trips, they still haven’t managed to locate the onion bag by half time, then there is no better man to call upon in the circumstances than Dzeko to help secure only a second away win of the season – rated at 8/13 with Ladbrokes.

Meanwhile, despite defeating Manchester United at Old Trafford and very nearly inflicting the same fate on Chelsea, Steve Clarke’s 9/2 outsiders for victory have only actually picked up five points in as many league games.

The Baggies are huffing and puffing, but they are not managing to blow the house down and for this reason a third draw in four outings could be enough to keep the wolf from the door at 3/1.

However, we think the real fairytale ending will be the 15/8 on Dzeko to score as part of a City victory.
