Published:Thomas Gravesen excelled as a solid, if unspectacular, central midfielder who represented Denmark on 66 occasions, but since then the 37-year-old has taken an altogether different path.
Retiring from football five years ago, he set about taking a few more risks, with a series of investments in financial businesses across Europe.
The good news is that this gamble paid off, with Danish newspaper BT revealing that the player is now worth £82.61 million and has retired to Las Vegas alongside his model girlfriend Kamilla Persee.
While there, Gravesen will be indulging in his favourite pastime: gambling. And with that in mind we’ve come up with a treble that could see him make that personal fortune just that bit bigger at odds of over 13/1:
A Toffees stalwart from 2000 to 2004, Gravesen played 141 games for the blue half of Merseyside during the early years of David Moyes’ reign.
He will have been heartened by their performances under new manager Roberto Martinez so far this term with Everton currently fifth and just three points off second place in the Premier League.
With 21 goals scored in their opening 13 matches and just one defeat to their name so far this season, provided on-loan striker Romelu Lukaku continues to fire, then the Dane could be tempted to back the Toffees for a top six finish.

With Neil Lennon’s team already out of Europe, fans will be hoping the team can redouble their efforts domestically, with the Scottish Cup a realistic target for the current holders.
They may face a tricky fifth-round home tie with Aberdeen, but given the depth and quality at the club’s disposal, getting on the tempting price offered for them to win this trophy now, could pay dividends in the long run.
