QPR v Leicester: Charlie Austin can continue scoring streak

Published:

Every club needs a talismanic striker to help them through the season and in Charlie Austin, it would seem QPR have theirs.

The striker, who signed for around £4m in the summer, got off to a slow start at Loftus Road managing just one goal in his first five appearances, but he has netted 11 times this season and more interestingly, four times in his last five games.

In the nine games that Austin has scored in he has been the first goalscorer six times. Ladbrokes go 4/1 that he scores first against Leicester.

QPR themselves are enjoying a run of good form which has seen them move to the top of the Championship at the expense of Burnley. A 2-0 victory away at Blackpool was the third consecutive clean sheet for The R’s, a run that Harry Redknapp will hope can continue.

11/10 for the victory looks good value when you consider their position in the league and the fact they are unbeaten at home this season.

Meanwhile, Leicester have struggled to pick up points of late but still remain 3rd in the table, just three points off QPR. Having lost their last two away games, to Brighton and Sheffield Wednesday respectively, it is hard to see them getting a result here. Like Charlie Austin, top club scorer David Nugent has 10 goals to his name already this campaign.

Whilst many would love to see an open game in what is one of the biggest meetings in the Championship this season, QPR have been excellent at the back so far this campaign. Harry Redknapp’s men have kept a clean sheet in all of their last three matches and with the likes of Richard Dunne and Clint Hill leading the defence, it is hardly a surprise.

QPR are 6/4 to keep a clean sheet against Leicester.
