MK Dons, Swindon and Oldham on for wins in League One

Published:

Love them or hate them, few can deny that MK Dons remain a reliable pick at home in any League One accumulator.

And in an unpredictable division, they are best joined by Swindon Town and Oldham, with this particular trio shaping up to be worthy choices for home wins over their respective opponents this New Year’s Day.

On at odds of nearly 5/1, this tasty treble brings returns of £59.58 for anyone placing a £10 bet with Ladbrokes.

MK Dons to beat Colchester @ 4/6

Karl Robinson’s side had won four on the bounce before defeat away to top of the table Brentford last time out, but the 31-year-old gaffer will be confident of a return to winning ways at home to a poor Colchester team.

The Dons have tasted defeat in just four of the last 16 league fixtures played at Stadium mk and they have never lost to the U’s at home in the league, winning the previous two meetings between the clubs at the ground.

With Colchester triumphing in just one of their last 11 competitive away fixtures, a Milton Keynes win looks assured.

Swindon Town to beat Crawley @ 5/6

Home form remains key for Swindon, with the Robins winning three of the last four League One games played at the County Ground and the visit of Crawley offers them the chance to extend that run.

Mark Cooper’s team have scored in each of their last 15 League One home games and that run looks likely to continue against a Crawley side that remains inconsistent on the road.

The visitors have picked up just one win from their last four away games and despite victory over Leyton Orient, head into this game having lost twice to the Robins at the County Ground last term, both in the league and in the Football League Trophy.

Oldham to beat Shrewsbury @ 19/20

Level on points in the lower half of the table, it’s Oldham who have impressed most in recent weeks, against would-be promotion hopefuls Coventry and should-be title-challengers Sheffield United.

In both instances second-half goals denied the Latics valuable wins, but it should be a different story against the Shrews, with Graham Turner’s side claiming just one victory from their last six games in all competitions.

Oldham also boast a psychological edge, having beaten Shrewsbury twice already this season, including a 4-1 win last time out.
