Man City set for yet another bumper home win

Published:

They might be struggling on the road, but at the Etihad Manchester City are unstoppable and they can rack up yet another big win when Swansea City visit the Premier League title favourites.

You won’t get rich backing the 1/4 on a home win, but you might make a few bob if you get on the 7/4 that City win by three goals or more.

Manuel Pellegrini has yet to find a cure for the travel sickness that has engulfed the Citizens whenever they leave their home comforts, but in their own stadium they have been imperious and it is difficult to see anything other than City giving Swansea a good hiding.

Pellegrini’s men have won all six of their home games this term, scoring an incredible 26 goals in the process, and the way they have seen off both Norwich and Tottenham, winning 7-0 and 6-0 respectively, is as impressive as anything seen in the Premier League era.

Four of those six wins have been by three goals or more – the other two wins were by two goals – although in many ways, Pellegrini is just maintaining the standards set by his predecessor Roberto Mancini – City have won 39 of their last 44 home Premier League matches, losing just twice.

The Swans are as big as 11/1 (the draw is 9/2) but even at double figure prices it isn’t a tempting bet. Besides City’s fantastic home record, you can’t be getting on Swansea at the moment the way they are performing, especially when they hit the road.

Away from home, Michael Laudrup’s side have won just four of their 15 trips in 2013, with three of those coming against last season against relegated Wigan last season and this year against struggling Fulham and Crystal Palace.

Since winning promotion in 2011, the Swans have won just three of the 21 fixtures they have played against teams in the top half of the Premier League – not the record you want against a team with such a formidable home record, and City can put yet another side to the sword in swashbuckling style.
