Premier League clubs to provide De Bruyne with Chelsea exit

Vocalising an opinion on the future of Chelsea youngster Kevin De Bruyne is an activity plenty have partaken in of late.

The Blues – 11/4 co favourites for the Premier League title with Ladbrokes – don’t appear to have a hole he’s capable of fitting into in their side, prompting a number of individuals from the Belgian national set up to go public with their belief that the young winger should depart the west London club to preserve his World Cup place.

Supremely talented, De Bruyne enjoyed a successful stint on loan at Werder Bremen last term, where he netted 10 goals in 33 Bundesliga starts and Germany is the destination he is being encouraged to head for when the January window reopens.

However, there are a couple of takers in the English top flight that could gain from investing in the 22-year-old’s services.

Manchester United are one of these. The Red Devils’ wide men have disappointed to a certain degree this term, with Ashley Young constantly proving ineffectual on the left, Nani struggling for any kind of form and Shinji Kagawa failing to acclimatise to a touchline-hugging role.

David Moyes has the funds available to him to match the lofty demands Chelsea will certainly require of a divisional rival and a player blessed with De Bruyne’s creativity and eye for goal could help restore some of United’s waning attacking vigour.

Flogging to a title contender is something Jose Mourinho is likely to be adverse to, however, paving the way for a club of Southampton’s stature to make a move.

If the Saints want to develop their early-season purple patch into something more substantial, they need to invest and De Bruyne is of the ilk to help the south coast club kick on in their quest to snare continental football this season.

They have access to the funds such a transfer would command and have shown in the past they’re not scared of splashing some cash in order to attract a marquee signing.

It’s unlikely that the Belgian would view such a move as a step in the wrong direction either, with the first team spot he would be guaranteed at St Mary’s providing the perfect platform to showcase his skills in one of the world’s most reputable leagues.
