Tears see Willerton back in the running for Queen of the Jungle

When it comes to winning the support of the television viewers far and wide on I’m A Celebrity…Get Me out of Here! few things work better than turning on the waterworks.

And though Amy Willerton remains an outsider to be the last remaining female contestant on this year’s show, at 5/1 with Ladbrokes, her recent breakdown could generate the kind of support and sympathy from the public that the beauty queen has lacked so far.

In fairness, the 21-year-old has presented a bright and breezy demeanour on the show, avoiding confrontations wherever possible and even getting involved in a potential jungle romance with the current 8/15 favourite,Joey Essex.

But it was her confident demeanour that previously riled viewers, with the Bristol-born celeb showing little fear in the one Bushtucker Trial she was put forward for.

However, that all changed this week with the fresh-faced female breaking down into a blubbering mess after the dynamic duo of Steve Davis and Lucy Pargeter rounded on her for spending too much time napping in one of the few hammocks available to the group.

As many a snooker player will tell you, it’s rarely a smart thing to cross the ginger wonder, with the former World Champion sarcastically mocking the model’s lack of activity in the camp so far.

It did not take long for the tears to flow with the claustrophobic nature and difficult sleeping conditions of jungle life Down Under ramping up the tension within the group – much to the delight of presenters Ant and Dec.

But this emotional outpouring could yet save Willerton, or at the very least extend her stay, with the Miss Universe contestant aiming to follow in the footsteps of famous blubbers like Stacey Solomon, Kerry Katona and Charlie Brooks by becoming the last woman standing.

She still faces a battle though, with Laila Morse the favourite at 7/4 while Rebecca Adlington can be backed at 2/1, but with the model tantalising viewers through regular outpourings of emotion and her Joey Essex romance, don’t be surprised if she sticks around until the end.
